The Economic Council of Okeechobee County is a non-profit, non-partisan organization formed to act as a catalyst between the public and private sectors to promote open dialogue, collaboration and action.

The ECO exists to serve as a single, united voice for the business leaders of the community, providing a platform recognized by the City, County and the State of Florida. Action is taken on issues to promote prudent economic growth and advocate for improved quality of life in Okeechobee County. The Council encourages principles of good government and good citizenship, provides a forum for open discussion on matters of public interest and seeks to inspire service-minded citizens to serve their community.

Since 1990, the Economic Council and its members have worked diligently to sustain a healthy business climate with a non-partisan agenda. The Council believes a prosperous economy is vital for Okeechobee County to sustain a vibrant quality of life for all citizens.

For almost 30 years, the ECO has proudly served Okeechobee County and has grown to over 50 members. Membership of the Council is comprised of a diverse coalition of top industry, business and professional leaders with an active and influential role in the community. ECO members are expected to exhibit the highest level of ethical business practices and are frequently active in other civic, charitable and political causes.
